Attended the Nikon School Adventures – Best of Northumberland with Neil & Ricci on 24th Oct. Despite Storm Benjamin cutting the shoot short, we still captured great seascapes around Bamburgh Castle & Rumbling Kern. The afternoon Q&A/editing session was packed with tips. Fantastic learning day — can’t wait for the next one!

Storm Benjamin hit so the weather was less than brilliant! But the instructors did a great job of guiding us round the outside of it and we got some very moody shots. The evening fire spinning the night before was great fun, but there was no chance of any astro work due to the complete cloud cover.

Great job managing the weather conditions to find a few good opportunities for pictures. Both Ricci and Neil were excellent for help with composition and technical aspects of photography. Nice group, too!

Absolutely amazing. I would recommend booking more than one day. Weather can’t always be guaranteed but these guys know how to make the most for your experience.

Plenty of opportunities to make images of the three species of deer at Studley. Neil was an expert guide and leader as well as sharing his extensive knowledge of Nikon equipment and photographic techniques. All in all a fun day resulting in some fantastic “keepers”.

A very special evening around 3 steam locomotives with lighting, smoke and re-enactors setting the scene. Plenty of space and time with just a small number of other photographers. Wonderful photos achieved in an otherwise inaccessible location and opportunity. Nikon Trainer on hand, gave expert advice and opportunities to create stunning images, adding confidence to all skill levels and Watercress Railway Staff enacted and advised on the Locos too.

This was excellent both from a photographing the subject and reviewing equipment. I was made to think about my composition and use of light and how would small adjustments in my position produce an improved shot. Neil also revealed a few things about my Z9 I knew nothing about. I got far more than I expected from the workshop

Having someone with detailed knowledge of the Nikon systems and the option to borrow kit to try out was a significant advantage over none Nikon courses I have previously attended.
