Good but challenging morning

RATING: 5 of 5
DATE: OCTOBER 2023

COURSE: Experience Day: Wildlife - Studley Royal Deer Rut

Good location and plenty of deer to shoot close to the meeting point, latter party due to inclement weather and lack of dog walkers. Good introduction on lenses and camera settings for the shoot. Lots of suitable Nikon kit to loan if needed. Misty and rainy conditions were challenging but turned out better than I expected. Got some good shots despite the conditions. Good debrief and Q&A time later over coffee.

COURSE: After School Club

Firstly, the course concept itself it's great, a live Q&A which helped a lot of people including myself. Neil and Ricci were also very patient, they answered every question in detail and if you still had a doubt they would explain until you had a clear idea. Their knowledge is very good, they answered both gear and practical questions in a way that everyone would understand and also gave useful tips. Overall, it was a very nice experience and I can't wait for the next session! 100% recommend it

Great experience and fantastic teaching

COURSE: Nikon School Adventures: Scotland - Glens, Highlands & Lochs Day 5

I did all five days of this course. Each day I took new skills away from it. Neil and Ricci made everyone feel welcome and at ease. There were no silly questions. My composition has improved so much just by going over the simple steps they went over. I learnt new ways to take landscape pictures that I would never have thoguht of on my own. The other delegates on the course had different experience levels which made the conversations really interesting. I can't wait for my next course.

COURSE: Nikon School Adventures: Scotland - Glens, Highlands & Lochs Day 5

Good locations, good tutition, good level of knowledge from the Nikon team. The locations as always weather dependant and you need to be flexible with the changing weather and location. Good knowledge of the local area by the team.

Scotland glens, highlands and lochs (day 5)

RATING: 5 of 5
DATE: OCTOBER 2023

COURSE: Nikon School Adventures: Scotland - Glens, Highlands & Lochs Day 5

Day 5 was spent in the area around Loch Ness and Foyers, starting at Dores and then moving on to Loch Farr where we also tried some ICM. We continued to Loch Tarff to get some shots before the rain came in and we returned to Foyers where Neil demonstrated post processing techniques. Again Neil and Ricci were on hand to ensure all delegates learned from the experience.

Scotland glens, highlands and lochs (day 4)

RATING: 5 of 5
DATE: OCTOBER 2023

COURSE: Nikon School Adventures: Scotland - Glens, Highlands & Lochs Day 4

The aim on day 4 was to head towards Skye, stopping en route to take landscape shots at Loch Loyne, and Ratagan before arriving in Glen Brittle with the rain preventing the opportunity of photographing the Fairy Pools at their best. We went to an alternative waterfall location and the bridge at Sligachan before heading back. Neil and Ricci once again provided advice on techniques, composition and drying out camera gear!

Scotland glens, highlands and lochs (day 3)

RATING: 5 of 5
DATE: OCTOBER 2023

COURSE: Nikon School Adventures: Scotland - Glens, Highlands & Lochs Day 3

Day 3 began with a stop at the highest point on the road between Foyers and Fort Augustus to take some landscape shots, made more difficult by the strong winds, then to Invermoriston. In the afternoon we drove to Corpach to photograph an abandoned boat against the background of Ben Nevis when the cloud cover permitted. The Commando Memorial was the final stop where identification of a circling bird of prey remained in doubt. Again the advice of Neil and Ricci was invaluable.

Scotland glens, highlands and lochs (day 2)

RATING: 5 of 5
DATE: OCTOBER 2023

COURSE: Nikon School Adventures: Scotland - Glens, Highlands & Lochs Day 2

Day 2 involved quite a long drive from Foyers to Portknockie to photograph the spectacular Bow Fiddle Rock and the seascapes of the Moray coast, after which we continued to Carrbridge to photograph the packhorse bridge and experiment with light painting; the weather ranged from about 20C and sunshine in the morning to showers in the afternoon. Once again Neil and Ricci were present to provide comprehensive advice on camera settings and suggested compositions.

Scotland glens, highlands and lochs (day 1)

RATING: 5 of 5
DATE: OCTOBER 2023

COURSE: Nikon School Adventures: Scotland - Glens, Highlands & Lochs Day 1

The first day followed a weekend of heavy rain but the light afforded an opportunity to photograph reflections on the lochs and landscapes around Foyers before heading to Loch Garry and Kinlochhourn. Neil and Ricci were on hand to provide comprehensive advice on camera settings and suggested compositions to ensure that all delegates gained from their participation.
