Very useful, great way to teach people

COURSE: How to: Macro Photography

I found this really useful, particularly from a technical point-of-view. I bought a macro lens very early in my photography and have taken a number of shots, so I wasn't new to it. However, I still felt like I learned a lot, particularly in terms of process for approaching macro shots. What I especially like is that we're shown a photo and then Ricci or Neil talked through how they got it, what the particular challenges to overcome were, and let us ask questions which is a great way to learn

Really useful training on my favourite location

COURSE: Virtual Landscape Tour - Northumberland

I found this was really useful. I'm from Northumberland and was able to see how Neil and Ricci interpreted locations I am familiar with. They answered all questions with real, practical advice. I do think it will immediately enable me to take better shots of a coastline I really like. The structure of putting up a photo and describing how they got it is an excellent way to make people think about how they take shots.

Interesting course

COURSE: How to: Macro Photography

I really enjoyed the class, having purchased a macro lens a few years ago and not doing much with it.
It was really interesting to see some ideas from Neil and Ricci but I didn't feel that this was their favourite subject. I felt that they were less enthusiastic, and of course that's fine. I felt they were trying to find enough images to demonstrate the format. It may have been better to have an hour or 90 minutes length.

Virtual Landscape Northumbria

RATING: 5 of 5

COURSE: Virtual Landscape Tour - Northumberland

An inspirational course. Not having visited the area for many years it has brought a renewed interest in visiting the places and trying to improve my landscape technique. The two course providers conveyed full knowledge of how they had approached the shots and the techniques that they had found to work for them. The facility to ask questions at stages during the course also enabled any areas of doubt to be clarified.

COURSE: Getting Started with Photography - Pt. 1

Like many men I had not got around to reading the instruction manual after a couple of years, just using the camera on auto. This course was a great introduction to the controls on the camera and how to use them. The two instructors, Neil and Ricci, were very knowledgeable and knew how to approach the subject. A superb introduction. Many thanks.

COURSE: How to: Astrophotography

As a novice photographer I found this session fascinating. There were some useful tips on setting up your camera for night shots and it inspired me to go away and disover more about my camera. The photos of the moon, Milky Way and the Northern Lights were joyous and I liked the fact that the photos were edited according to the differing tastes of the two trainers, emphasising that we must be true to our own aesthetic choices. A field trip with the Nikon School is definitely on my bucket list.

COURSE: Getting Started with Photography - Pt. 1

Having booked to do this course at the Nikon School before the lockdown started I was very pleased to be offered the opportunity to do it online instead. I thought that both Neil and Ricci were very professional in their approach, dealing with the technical challenge of running such a course on Zoom. I learned so much during the two hours that the course ran. I went onto the website immediately afterwards to try and book another online course but sadly all were full. A sign of their success !

COURSE: Digital Darkroom: Introduction to Lightroom Classic

This is course was really well put together and presented. Even though I have used Lightroom before I still learnt a lot of new skills which were explained really well. Any questions asked were answered promptly and thoroughly and overall the whole course was really very good. Loads of examples were shown and explained which made the whole experience very enjoybale

Astro Photography 14th May

RATING: 5 of 5
DATE: MAY 2020

COURSE: How to: Astrophotography

Usual high standard that we have come to expect from Nikon school - as usual well thought through on-line presentation, well delivered, lots of information and with some very helpful tips and advice. Questions were answered very concisely and with very helpful advice - given me plenty of ideas to practice at home and hopefully will manage to get on one the 'live' astro courses when things to ease from lockdown - probably 2022 as 2020 cancelled and probably fully booked for 2021
