This was a great course and it was really helpful that lots of information about camera settings and filters etc were shared throughout as welll as locations etc.
I visit Northumberland many times a year (for another hobby) but need to get myself out and about more in the area with my camera again.
I don’t have the latest Nikon camera but the course helped me to understand more about using a variety of settings to achieve great results.... more confident now to get off auto!!!!

The tour introduced some new ideas for me. The tour gave me good advice regarding better basic settings and approaches to improve my landscape pictures. The more technical input was delivered in a way that was easy to grasp.

This course was an eye-opener: Neil stated that he has no wish to reproduce realism - initially a shocking statement but the photos explained were stunning photographs, which by use of filters gave images better than the eye could see, such as the reflections on water that was actually choppy. The only disappointment was that the most impressive shots were all taken at unsocial hours. Neil's and Ricci's photos were stunning and it is reassuring that they are taken with the same gear we can buy.

This course has completely changed my views on adding light. Previously, having come from the "flash bulb" age, I saw the flash gun as a light source you resort to only when there is insufficient natural light. They were crude tools that delivered fairly harsh light that one needed to control. As a result of this course, I now see the speed light as the main source of controllable light - so much so that I have upgraded to an SB 5000 since the course and its already improving outdoor macro shots

Having been to this part of the world on a hiking holiday some years ago, and doing photography too I was surprise of how much I could have, should have done.
So therefore I will have to go back and practise on my slow shutter imagery and spending more time in one location.

Neil and Ricci took us on a virtual tour of some of the iconic landscapes of the Antrim countryside and coastline, including some which had been used in the Game of Thrones series. This was particularly enjoyable as we were on the Nikon School course in Antrim in 2019.
