Neil and Ricci gave a comprehensive explanation of the best camera settings and techniques to achieve the best results for the different styles of composition. They went over the rules of composition and the reasons for these depending on what the photographer seeks to achieve.

Image composition is such an illusive concept and so subjective. I think, even if you are technically proficient, the skill of spotting a composition is either a gift or something that has taken a lot of work. I fall into the latter, so the more help I can get, the more I am able to think about what I am doing. Photography for me, is a combination of pleasure and torture and I never know where on that spectrum each venture will be? The course has given me lots of things to consider.

Initially felt that 3 hours would be too long and rather arduous. I shouldn't have worried! Every minute was useful, informative and involving. Ricci is clearly an incredibly experienced and knowledgeable photographer, but he communicated his message in a very effective manner, explaining all aspects very clearly.
