Getting the best from a Nikon D850

RATING: 5 of 5
DATE: NOVEMBER 2020

COURSE: Mastering the D850

I found the course to be really helpful even though I have read up a lot on this particular camera. The instructor gave lots of hints and tips about settings to enable us to obtain the best from this brilliant camera. I didn't feel that using Zoom took anything away from the course, it probably enabled certain guests to sign up who would find it difficult to get to a Nikon School.
Overall, thank you Nikon for 3 hours of valuable information to achieve the best from this camera. Would recommend.

Nikon D850 a simple guide to its full protential

COURSE: Mastering the D850

The trainer was very articulated and I had a very clear understanding how things worked on the camera most importantly I learnt about metering which can be a complicated issue this was made very simple to understand.
Most important for myself he explained about ISO and how to use higher levels of ISO and the different formats of metering which was most helpful also the dynamic points what to use and when to use them.
The menu setup on the camera was also very helpful .

Mastering the D850

COURSE: Mastering the D850

An excellent presentation and delivered perfectly. My only gripe is that in this day and age surely the technology exists to be able to easily record it so I can play it back to ensure I didn’t miss anything. I appreciate data protection issues but there must be a way to do this?

HOW TO: LANDSCAPES - Zoom course review

RATING: 5 of 5

COURSE: How to: Landscapes

Enjoyed the course. Good structure, good content, topic flowed nicely. Well paced - didn't feel as whizzy whizz as previous zoom courses, time for slow coaches like me to take notes.

Old waterfalls, new outlook

RATING: 4.4 of 5
DATE: NOVEMBER 2020

COURSE: How to: Waterfalls

Excellent course covering the nuances of using ND filters & practicalities of shooting waterfalls. For somebody new to the role of filters it was really useful. Especially given the constraints of the virtual platform, it was very practical & hands on. Kept us engaged for the whole session.

Really informative and helpful

RATING: 5 of 5

COURSE: Virtual Landscape Tour: Yorkshire Dales

I trained on film cameras and had not understood that the approach with digital cameras is different in some ways - the tutors gave me very helpful answers to my questions and I learned a lot. The content of session was again very helpful to me, for example how best to use a wide angle or telephoto lens. I particularly appreciated the advice about using filters, correcting white balance, graduated filters, ideal f-stop range, composition for different situations and loads of other tips.

COURSE: Virtual Landscape Tour - Iceland

Interesting and informative as every Nikon school online course! Neil shared multiple shots taken in Iceland with related technical details, plus some tip and tricks! It was particularly interesting to see the ice cave pictures with amazing ice textures!

Easy-to-follow content and practical tips

RATING: 5 of 5
DATE: NOVEMBER 2020

COURSE: How to: Portraits

Neil Freeman created a safe online learning environment. Participants had opportunities to ask questions and make comments and Neil was responsive to the group. Joining was easy. I hadn’t known what to expect but the content was very clear and easy to follow. It was useful too! I wrote a few notes along the way. The shared photographs with exif data and Neil’s commentary were useful illustrations of his advice in practice. I learned a lot and look forward to putting it into practice.

COURSE: Digital Darkroom: Introduction to Lightroom Classic

I had not previously undertaken any of these courses but was not disappointed. Really great introduction to Lightroom. Neil explained all of the steps in a very logical sequence and was brilliant at fielding questions at the appropriate times. Focussed on the key elements and controls, did not waste too much time on the controls that would not be required at Introduction level. I came away feeling much more knowledgeable. It reinforced the knowledge I already had and offered some great info.
