It was a pleasure to attend CAROLYN MENDELSOHN: PORTRAITS, PARTICIPATION AND THE TELLING OF STORIES talk. In one hour time talk she explained the process of a few of her beautiful works as such as the awarded ¨In between¨. I could learn and understand how the project could be beyond the camera shooting itself. Techniques on portrait photography also made part of the presentation. 100% recommend.

Fab class! Started as a beginner and by the end of the class took some really exciting shots! I learnt my way round my Nikon but also learnt how to get control and take the pics I want. Individual tuition was great way to master my camera and understand the settings and an introduction to some of the many brilliant possibilities my Nikon has to offer. The difference in my photos is the difference between night and day, Im now definitely in the light and able to capture it! Thank you Nikon!

I had not attempted to photograph birds before so I was very keen to learn how best to approach this subject. Before we went outside, Ricci gave a useful briefing on camera settings and what we should expect from the day. Once in the meadow and field, we were able to photograph the birds head on and also from the side. Ricci was always on hand to help with any questions and his suggestion to me to pre focus on a spot enabled me to take sharp images of birds in flight.

Understandably the course was just a stand at the PhotoLondon event, and Neil had alot to get through in a short amount of time. It was all very relevant to me, and he gave a very quick description of the camera. I have been using a D80 for years, and need to update to a full frame higher MP camera, this course gave an excellent introduction to the Nikon Z6ii. I am very grateful to Neil and to his very professional model.

A very well presented talk from Harry with some great advice on picture taking that applies to all photography, not just wildlife. Look forward to more from Harry.

What a fantastic day! Extremely well structured with outstanding shooting and learning opportunities. A perfect balance between practical workshop, advice and instruction. Ricci is a font of knowledge and always on hand to help and advise. Great opportunity at lunch too to discuss and compare experiences with other delegates. Final icing on the cake was the chance to use other lenses that Ricci had brought along to help future equipment considerations.

It was interesting and engaging to listen to the personal stories of Carolyn. First I expected a kind of lecture about how to make portraits, but actually her method of telling how she does and did it was more interesting. Learnt a lot and I’m very much inspired to create my own projects. Thank you.

A fantastic overview of this lighting technique which also allowed me to try a Zfc Nikon mirrorless camera for the first time as well as a flash system for lighting & a couple of different lenses. As a new photography student contemplating which kit I will be investing in, this was a great opportunity. A model & studio set-up were provided along with excellent instruction & we also did an exterior set up. Printing out an image at the end meant we saw the entire process which was really helpful.

Not a course but a talk given by Carolyn Mendelsohn as part of Photo London at Somerset House. Carolyn talked about her process and in particular her project 'Being Inbetween'. Anyone familiar with her work will not be surprised to hear that the talk was inspirational, laced with humour and often very moving.
