You may arrive earlier and leave later but must be in Keflavik Airport on the 9th January by midday at the latest to meet Neil and Ricci.

We will be travelling around Iceland using 4x4 cars which have been chosen for the winter conditions in Iceland.

All hotels we stay at are of a good standard with your own room and en-suite bathroom.

An outline itinerary is as follows, but please note this is very weather dependent, so we may need to change the arrangements and locations at the minute on some of the days as the weather can be very unpredictable in Iceland

9th January
Arrival at the airport at Keflavik. After introductions and a welcome briefing and depending on the weather conditions we will aim to set off and start our Iceland Winter Adventure immediately. This will give us the opportunity to photography some amazing locations on our way to Vik including maybe Sunset. On arrival at the hotel over dinner, we can continue a Q&A about Iceland and what to expect from the workshop. In the evening, we will keep watch for the possibility and Northern lights shoot, weather conditions permitting.

Day 1 – 10th Jan

We will aim for a Sunrise shoot and to visit some of the iconic locations in this part of Iceland such as Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss and the sea stacks and Church at Vik . There are many other locations we might be able to photograph along the route as well, which gives us a full day of photography as we head to our next hotel once the sun has set. After dinner we also have number of great locations to potentially to shoot the northern lights if the conditions allow

Day 2 – 11th Jan

Depending on weather conditions sunrise will be at around Jokulsarlon or Vestrahorn, and then we will visit many other locations that offer terrific photography opportunities (weather permitting) hopefully including Glaciers and the stunning Jokulsarlon and Vestrahorn. There is plenty to do in this area with locations to visit that only a few locals know of. We may again visit Jokulsarlon and many more locations depending on the light and weather. We will of course be keeping a close eye on the cloud cover forecast for the chance of shooting the northern lights.

Day 3 – 12th Jan

We aim to visit some more locations from in this area or maybe revisit locations from day 2 as the light and weather conditions change constantly in Iceland providing opportunities for many different images. Sunrise will be at either Jokulsarlon or Vestrahorn. As ever we will be watching the weather for the chance of shooting the northern lights.

Day 4 – 13th Jan

Heading back past Jokulsarlon on the way to the west coast passing some of the locations already shot. if the weather conditions are different you will have the opportunity of shooting some highlights again as well as locations not yet visited. After sunset we will arrive at our hotel near Vik for the night.

Day 5 - 14th Jan

Starting with Sunrise at Vik, either from the iconic church or rock stacks or black sand beach at Reynisfjara. Weather permitting we will then visit Dyrholeay sea arch and take in the amazing views, before we head across Þingvellir national park where you can walk between and photograph the tectonic plates of Eurasia and North America and visit Oxarafoss. After sunset we will make our way to our hotel on the Snaefellsnes peninsula.

Day 6 – 15th Jan

A full day of locations on the Snaefellsnes peninsula including the iconic Kirkjufell. Even though Kirkjufell is a must see there are so many beautiful locations in this area including Arnarstapi harbour and sea stacks, Londrangar and the ruggedly beautiful and secluded Djúpalónssandur with its red rocks as well as Svörtuloft Lighthouse with it's fantastic rugged cliffs. We will then finish the day back at the hotel, still keeping an eye on the cloud cover forecast for northern lights.

Day 7 – 16th Jan

We will continue to explore Snaefellsnes peninsula visiting many stunning locations.

Day 8 - 17th Jan

We will re-visit some of the above locations from days 6 and 7 to shoot them in different light conditions. There are so many amazing locations here. After sunset we will head back to Keflavik. Although our adventure is not over yet, if there is a chance of the northern lights there is a great location not far from the hotel

18th Jan

Farewells and return home

This is a Photographic workshop and will we prioritise the opportunity for you to shoot great images above everything. We will plan each day around the weather and light, which means that meal times may be at non standard times as well as arrivals and departures from hotels which may be very early or very late in the evening.

Lunches and dinners will not be included in the tour, spending money of about £500 for a week in Iceland is usual for your food and day to day expenses. Many hotels and restaurants are closed during winter in Iceland, so our food choices are limited once outside of Keflavik. If you have any questions about dietary options, please let us know and we can discuss this with you.

Luggage is limited to one medium suitcase and one camera bag per person. This should give you plenty of room for all you need.

We may also visit the Ice Caves inside the Vatnajokull Glacier when we are at Jokulsarlon. This is an optional add-on to the workshop and we will only be able to confirm the timings and if this is possible once we are in Iceland. If we go, we will visit the Ice Caves under the guidance of an Ice Cave guide using extreme 4x4's. If you wish to join this optional tour you will need to pay the ice cave guide on the day, pricing is circa £150. This is for an extended time in the caves and is completely different from any 'tourist' tour you might book
