Course Contents

There are 6 different modules, each aim to guide you through the different stages of photography, from set up to editing. With each week you will develop new skills and learn different techniques.

Module 1: Cameras, Lenses & Camera Setup

Our first module will take a look at essential pieces of photography equipment you may need to make sure you have all the right kit to begin your photography journey. We will also cover the main camera controls and menu settings that can help you achieve great images.

Module 2: Shutter Speed, Aperture & ISO

Learn how to choose the best mode to give you control of your camera to shoot the images you want. Understand the relationship between Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO and the effect they have on the light and creative outcome of your image.

Module 3: Focusing

Accurate focusing helps you achieve pin sharp images. This module will take you the different focusing areas and modes available on your camera, so that you will be able to quickly choose the best focusing setup whatever subject you are photographing.

Module 4: Light, Exposure & Metering

Light is the key element that can make or break your image. Learn how to ‘see’ light and visualise how good light will improve your images. We will discuss how to get the best results when working with natural light or artificial light sources and how to get good exposures using the metering systems in the camera.

Module 5: Colour & Composition

In this module, we will look at the various ways in which good composition can really make your subjects and images stand out by teaching you when to use composition rules and when to break to them. We will also explore how to use colour effectively in your images by using settings such as picture controls and white balance.

Module 6: Introduction to Image Editing

Learn how to finish your images using image editing software. The techniques taught in this module will show you how you can maximise detail and sharpness, refine the colours, remove dust spots and much more.

By booking this course you are committing to the full 6 weeks and are responsible for ensuring your availability.
