Nikon School are delighted to be co-hosting a Q&A talk with Kennel Club photographer Yulia Titovets. As an experienced dog photographer Yulia will be talking about her long career in the photographic industry and invaluable tips and tricks she has picked up along the way.
'Dogs and photography have been the love of my life since I can remember. I have been introduced to photography at a very early age and started working as a freelance photographer as soon as I got my first DSLR about 16 years ago. Since 2008 I have also been actively working with dog trainers, walkers, shelters, not only photographing dogs, but also helping out and learning about the industry. Currently I own 4 dogs and I successfully show them and compete with them in various disciplines.
I am lucky to be able to work as a dog photographer, basically enjoying my life among these amazing creatures. My background as a passionate dog lover, dog trainer and handler allows me to build a close connection with the dog whilst doing a photoshoot. My knowledge of dog behaviour also encourages dogs to feel comfortable while working with me. As a dog photographer my goal is to capture and promote the excitement of interaction with dogs, their spontaneity and how they are different from one another. I am proud to say that I have been the Kennel Club official photographer for the last 8 years, capturing the essence of their events, the energy of dog sports and the elegance of dog shows. I am also a member of the World Dog Press Association and work for several dog magazines around the world.
This year has brought tremendous difficulties which changed my attitude to life and probably the direction of my work too, but only time will tell.'
