Nikon School are excited to host an evening in the presence of historic railway giants. This event comes with huge amounts of atmosphere and the opportunity to create some very special images Join us on location to capture the very essence of a Midland train shed at the unique Ex Midland Roundhouse. This evening shoot in the Roundhouse will enable you to capturing steam train cameos with re-enactors alongside the engines that once graced this iconic engine shed.
Barrow Hill Roundhouse has a wealth of heritage and is last remaining roundhouse in the UK so offers us the opportunity to create some really amazing images. The site of many past events this really is a wonderful location that really needs to be seen at night to appreciate its grandeur.
If you enjoyed our photography experience day at Didcot with the steam trains and re-enactors, this similar experience will also allow you to shoot some great truly outstanding images.
Our evening will see us bring our chosen steam residents to life through the use of smoke and steam machines. With our lighting techniques we defy you to not believe the iron horses are about to leave the shed and pull trains all over the Midlands. The locomotives will be in close proximity to each other to add the feeling of a full train shed. Add to this our dedicated re-enactors offering the human interest and you are in for a truly memorable evening.
Our evening starts around 17.30 will see us concentrating exclusively in the main shed, closing the doors to keep the hall full of smoke and steam. Our period dressed locomotive crews, fitters and a works foremen will act out the various different scenes that were once a common sight in every engine shed. We plan to finish around 22.00 which we feel will give everyone plenty of time in a relaxed way to fully capture all the scenes on offer.
This event is going to be limited to 20 photographers so ensure comfortable surroundings and easy use of tripods. We therefore recommend booking early to avoid disappointment, given how popular previous events have been. So come and join us to capture the very essence of what this former Midland Steam Roundhouse after dark has to offer
If you would like to borrow any cameras or lenses for this course please get in contact with us at [email protected] with your request and we will do our best to bring it along.
