Carolyn Mendelsohn explores and shares her photography journey taking us from portraits and long form projects that tell stories, through to the pandemic that led her to creating Through Our Lens – a project set up initially to enable young people to tell their own story through photography, when their voices were missing from the narrative. Through Our Lens uses photography and creativity as a tool. It engages with and enables people to tell and share their stories, their lived experiences, and their truth in the most creative and compelling way. In this talk Carolyn will be sharing her process, and insights gained on the way.

It was a pleasure to attend CAROLYN MENDELSOHN: PORTRAITS, PARTICIPATION AND THE TELLING OF STORIES talk. In one hour time talk she explained the process of a few of her beautiful works as such as the awarded ¨In between¨. I could learn and understand how the project could be beyond the camera shooting itself. Techniques on portrait photography also made part of the presentation. 100% recommend.
