Outline Itinerary
Arrival date 12th January 2022 at Keflavik Airport, Iceland.
Depart date 21st January 2022 from Keflavik Airport, Iceland.

**All delegates are responsible for their flights to and from Iceland

You may arrive earlier and leave later but must be in Keflavik on the 12th January to meet Neil and Ricci.

We will be travelling around Iceland using a 4x4 minibus or 4x4 cars with full winter tyres. All hotels and guesthouses are ones that are known to us. They are all very clean of good standard with your own room and bathroom.

An outline itinerary is as follows -
Please note this is weather dependent, so we may need to change the arrangements and locations on some of the days

12th January

Arrival at the Hotel in Keflavik, a 5 minute taxi ride from the airport. Evening briefing from Neil and Ricci, with the possibility of a Sunset and Northern lights shoot, weather conditions permitting.

Day 1 – 13th Jan

We will start heading south, stopping at the following destinations: Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, kvernafoss, the sea stacks and church at Vik. We will then continue travelling further towards Hofn. The first & second night we will be staying at a beautiful guesthouse with it's warm and friendly staff and stunning mountain backdrop, situated between Jokulsarlon and Eystrahorn.

Day 2 – 14th Jan

Depending on weather conditions sunrise will be at either Jokulsarlon or Vestrahorn. These are two of the most iconic locations in Iceland. There is plenty to do in this area with locations to visit that only a few locals know of. We may again visit the diamond beach and many more locations depending on the light and weather. We will of course be keeping a close eye on the cloud cover forecast for the chance of shooting the northern lights.

Day 3 – 15th Jan

We aim to revisit some of the locations from day 2 as the light and weather conditions change constantly in Iceland providing opportunities for many different images. Sunrise will be at either Jokulsarlon or Vestrahorn again. We may again visit the diamond beach and other locations depending on the light and weather. As ever we will be
watching the weather for the chance of shooting the northern lights.

Day 4 – 16th Jan

Heading back past Jokulsarlon on the way to the west coast passing some of the locations already shot. if the weather conditions are different you will have the opportunity of shooting some highlights again as well as locations not yet visited. After sunset we will arrive at our hotel for the night.

Day 5 - 17th Jan

As the Golden Circle is very popular with tourists we will try to keep one step ahead of the tour buses ensuring
space for everyone so that your shots not littered with people. After which, coffee and then on to Þingvellir national park where you can walk between and photograph the tectonic plates of Eurasia and North America. We will then go on
to visit Oxarafoss and some of the clearest water on earth at Silfa Fissure. After sunset we will make our way to our Guesthouse which is set in the most stunning of locations and conveniently placed for our nights on the
Snaefellsnes peninsula.

Day 6 – 18th Jan

A full day of locations on the Snaefellsnes peninsula including the iconic Kirkjufell. Even though Kirkjufell
is a must see there are so many beautiful locations in this area including Arnarstapi harbour, sea stacks, sea arch, Londrangar, Hellnar, the ruggedly beautiful and secluded Djúpalónssandur with its red rocks, Wonderful moss
covered lava fields, Svörtuloft Lighthouse with it's fantastic rugged cliffs and sea arches, The remote hut on top of the mountain that route 54 crosses and more! Way too many for one day. We will then finish the day back at the
guesthouse, still keeping an eye on the cloud cover forecast for northern lights.

Day 7 – 19th Jan

We will continue to explore Snaefellsnes peninsula visiting many stunning locations.

Day 8 - 20th Jan

We will re-visit some of the above locations from days 6 and 7 to shoot them in different light conditions. There are so many amazing locations here. After sunset we will head back to Keflavik. It's still not over yet, if there is a
chance of the northern lights there is a great location not far from the hotel that makes for great photography.

21st Jan

Iceland

I loved this trip. The weather was perfect. We saw the lights almost every day. Neil and Mark Andreas Jones took us to superb locations, some of them less well known to other photographers. It was fantastic to have the expertise of someone who really understood how Iceland's weather moves and the micro-climates. This enabled us to swap locations and shoot in good light before revisiting the original plan in better weather. I have come away inspired by Iceland's rugged beauty and 6000 photos.
