Join Nikon School in Portland, Dorset where we will be shooting dramatic seascapes, by using filters, especially for very long exposures. This workshop is run In collaboration with Nisi Filters who will be bringing some filter kits along with them for delegates to try out. Throughout the day we will show you how and when to use hard or soft ND grads and ND filters to improve your photography. We will also be demonstrating techniques and a host of other invaluable tips & tricks you need to know when working with filters.
The course will be led by Nikon School and Nisi Filters experts who have extensive experience of landscape/seascape photography. The emphasis is on giving you the knowledge to approach any shoot with confidence so you can produce great images.
Working in small groups, we will be primarily photographing the Portland Bill Lighthouse and Pulpit Rock from a variety of angles and locations (weather permitting) while using different filters to create a range of different images. We will meet at 9:30am and shoot throughout the day, ending with a sunset shoot if the weather is right.
We will stop at a local café/pub for lunch so please bring money to buy food and drinks or bring along your own packed lunch.
Spaces on this workshop are strictly limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Average customer rating for this course:
"Nicely paced, well thought out informative day for the small group of Nikon photographers playing with exposures, filters and tripods, catching the water or cloud blur which work so well in that beautiful location. I really enjoyed the day, got some nice results and look forward to doing another day, very soon."
"It was a fun day. Neil, Ricci and Mark organized everything well and gave useful tips on gear, settings, techniques, filters, compositions. The day started with short briefing, offering Nikon and Nisi gear to borrow, and then we spent the day outside on the rocks photographing breaking waves. The group stayed more or less together, the location caters for all fitness levels. I came home with many good images, the sunset one I am very happy with. Thanks Nikon! I highly recommend this trip."
"Neil, Ricci and Mark have rekindled my desire for getting back into photography. I’ve always wanted to better understand landscape photography and the use of filters . Their help with set ups, the loan of some equipment and their infectious feelings for the subject make this a great experience for those of all skills levels."
"It was a good course but unfortunately the weather played a big part being very wet and very windy with lots of sea spray. The weather turned out brighter in the afternoon so we were able to have some practical experience. The Nikon trainers Neil and Ricci were excellent, attentive to all questions with lots of practical help in difficult conditions and the same goes for Mark Andreas Jones of Nisi filters. Overall I enjoyed it and learnt a lot."
"What an excellent day. On arrival at Portland Bill car park, the weather was awful and I was full of cold wondering why I'd bothered. Then you meet the trainers (Neil & Ricci from Nikon and Mark from Nisi), overflowing with enthusiasm and optimistic for better weather later and your mood changes. Who cares about being soaking wet. You have good company with plenty of time for taking photos and getting all the help you need with camera set up and shooting with filters. Lovely day, learnt a lot."
