Join Nikon School and sports photographer Tom Miles in Central London for a day of acrobatics and action shooting professional Parkour runners. We’ll be working around some iconic locations, but seeing them from a very different viewpoint as our runners clamber over, tumble off, and race through them. We’ll provide full tuition where needed, just bring your camera.
We will meet at Nikon School and then head to various location around the west end to shoot, so please bring appropriate clothing in case of bad weather. We will be getting lunch whilst we’re out and about but please feel free to bring a packed lunch if you prefer.
No specific camera equipment is required, although since we’re shooting action, the faster your camera goes, the better!
The runners have a great deal of expertise working with photographers, and understand what makes for great shots.
Don’t worry if you’ve never shot anything like this before as staff will be on hand to help you with any technical queries.
You will be on your feet for the majority of the day, walking from location to location.
Average customer rating for this course:
"I never worked with action or sports before so this was new ground for me, but I knew it would be a great opportunity for some amazing shots. Tom and the guys at Nikon School were on hand to give amazing advice. The parkour athletes were phenomenal, they were able to perform their stunts but direct where they would be allowing us to see where we want to be and assist with focusing. Tom ended the day with a quick run through of his work flow for this day. Amazing day, would highly recommend."
"Great day photographing cool action. Tom and the instructors were very helpful, always on-hand to give advice on camera setting, shooting angle, etc. The runners were also great, very skilful, had a lot of ideas on how to work in the surroundings, and always willing to go for one more take. Learnt a lot, got some great shots, and a really fun day!"
"Excellent day for someone like me who has never done anything like this before, Tom was great at explaining what was about to happen and the guys were incredibly proactive and helpful, suggesting things to do and finding locations that would suit. Getting to borrow some great glass and see what was possible was great too! The whole course was very informative and useful as was the debrief and short instruction in how to use photoshop to manage RAW files."
"If you are into action photography (or just want to try it) this workshop is a must. Tom and the Nikon team were always on hand to give advice, direction and encouragement. The athletes were not only extremely skilful and enthusiastic at finding locations, but more than willing to accept direction and suggestions - extremely professional. I will defiantly be redoing this workshop, when it next occurs and just hope the weather is a little cooler!"
"This exceeded my expectations as it wasn't clear to me we would have dedicated free runners performing for us for the entire day -- I learnt a lot and also got to play with a good lens that Tom lent me. And the runners were very professional and actually very impressive! "
