Join the Nikon School and sports/action photographer Tom Miles in Central London for some high speed urban acrobatics, gymnastics and parkour. We'll be working with professional parkour runners and gymnasts to create images that make the impossible look easy.
The course takes place outdoors, so please bring appropriate clothing in case of bad weather. We will be getting lunch whilst we’re out and about but please feel free to bring a packed lunch if you prefer.
No specific camera equipment is required, although since we’re shooting action, the faster your camera goes, the better!
The athletes have a great deal of expertise working with photographers, and understand what makes for great shots.
Don’t worry if you’ve never shot anything like this before as staff will be on hand to help you with any technical queries making sure you leave with some awesome images.
You will be on your feet for the majority of the day, walking from location to location.
Average customer rating for this course:
"9 of us went with Tom Miles (who was a sports photographer etc.) starting at The South Bank and then going to other areas (including Westminster) to photograph two Parkour lads. We also went on the beach opposite the South Bank so that they could jump, do somersaults from the railings etc. etc. We finished the day at Nikon when tom talked about how he manages so many photos on Photoshop - he took 1000 on his new Z camera. I took around 700 and when home got down to about 75 wonderful shots."
"Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Very well run and was exactly as advertised "
"I never worked with action or sports before so this was new ground for me, but I knew it would be a great opportunity for some amazing shots. Tom and the guys at Nikon School were on hand to give amazing advice. The parkour athletes were phenomenal, they were able to perform their stunts but direct where they would be allowing us to see where we want to be and assist with focusing. Tom ended the day with a quick run through of his work flow for this day. Amazing day, would highly recommend."
"Great day photographing cool action. Tom and the instructors were very helpful, always on-hand to give advice on camera setting, shooting angle, etc. The runners were also great, very skilful, had a lot of ideas on how to work in the surroundings, and always willing to go for one more take. Learnt a lot, got some great shots, and a really fun day!"
"Excellent day for someone like me who has never done anything like this before, Tom was great at explaining what was about to happen and the guys were incredibly proactive and helpful, suggesting things to do and finding locations that would suit. Getting to borrow some great glass and see what was possible was great too! The whole course was very informative and useful as was the debrief and short instruction in how to use photoshop to manage RAW files."
