Course Contents

During this workshop you will be provided with an understanding of the skills and techniques required to capture natural portraits of a range of different dogs. The workshop will take place during the 2023 UK vulnerable native breeds dog show where dog handlers and breeders will be showing a variety of UK vulnerable native dog breeds of all shapes and sizes.

The workshop is run with assistance from the Kennel Club and each dog we photograph will be have their owner or handler present which should help us get good images. On the day, Neil will be discussing and demonstrating the best techniques to capture the different characteristics of each breed and covering topics such as focusing, composition, depth of field and achieving the correct exposure for maximising detail. This is a great chance to photograph a range of dogs, but in particular some rare and unusual breeds that you may not usually get the chance to see.

Vulnerable Dog Breed Show

The workshop on photographing dogs on the vulnerable dog breed list was an extraordinary experience. Neil was highly knowledgeable and passionate about both photography and canine welfare. He provided invaluable insights into capturing the essence of these vulnerable breeds through their lenses. The workshop perfectly balanced theory and practical sessions, allowing participants to apply their newfound skills immediately. I left the workshop feeling inspired.
