There is something magical about a Lancaster Bomber at night, especially when 4 Merlin Engines are fired up!
We are extremely pleased to be bringing you the opportunity to photography the Lancaster Bomber 'Just Jane' during a private photographic event at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. The workshop will start at 7.00pm and allow you to capture a range of unique and interesting images, while also being treated to the sight and sounds of the Lancaster's 4 Merlin's being fired up one by one during the engine run part of the evening.
Our lights will bring a different dimension to the scenes of the ground crews loading bombs ready for the airman to take over and prepare our plane for her next night mission. Thankfully this mission will only see them fire up Just Jane's huge Merlin Engines once again. This our second run up of the evening will be timed to hopefully give us electric blue skies and the possibility of astro-photography (weather permitting). Engine runs allow us to capture those superb action shots that are the trade mark of any propeller plane at night.
In addition to the iconic Lancaster we will have a supporting cast of bombs, trolley's and other WWII trucks from the Museum's wonderful collection and of course the ever faithful support of a cast of RAF Bomber Command re-enactors.
The event will run until approximately 10.00pm.
We are limiting the number of delegates on this workshop to around 35 delegates and be providing photography training, tips and techniques, unlike similar events run by other organisations where there is often 100 or more photographers in attendance and no photography training.
Please note that there is a re-enactors portrait shoot in the afternoon prior to this workshop. If you're interested in knowing more about this please scroll to the bottom of the page.
If you would like to borrow any kit for this course please get in contact with us at [email protected] with your request and we will do our best to bring it along.
I had been looking forward to this event for some time and did not leave disappointed. The session started in early twilight and finished in darkness providing a huge range of photo opportunities and extremes. The available support of the friendly and approachable Neil & Ricci (Nikon) was appreciated. They also had Nikon kit available for use during the session. Last, but not least, was the fact that we had access to photograph the Lancaster in a closed, private session was just fantastic.
